City of Widows

I’ve spent a couple of days in the city of Vrindavan in the state of Uttar Pradesh doing research for Vish Puri 4 (as yet untitled). There are roughly 15,000 widows living in the city. They’ve been shunned by their in-laws and parents and now live in ashrams. They’re given a pitiful amount of money each day for attending prayer meetings. Some accuse the owners of the ashrams of exploiting the women – i.e. using them as a means to raise money. Might make an interesting case for Mummy-ji!
